Andrew Card

Andrew H. Card Jr., former White House chief of staff, former Franklin Pierce trustee, and most recently acting dean of the George H.W. Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University, announced as Franklin Pierce University's fifth president.

Andrew Card has enjoyed a distinguished career, beginning in the mid-70s when he was elected to the Massachusetts State Legislature. A few years later he was tapped by President Ronald Reagan to serve as deputy assistant to the president and director of intergovernmental affairs. Card later served in President George H. W. Bush's administration as assistant to the president and deputy chief of staff, where he managed the daily operations of the White House. He would go on to be the 11th U.S. secretary of transportation before being selected by then President-elect George W. Bush to be White House Chief of Staff, a position he held for nearly six years, making him the second longest serving chief of staff in modern history.
