Many thanks to all of you that attended the July 10 Club meeting. Considering how much we have going on this summer, I was concerned about the turn-out for my first official meeting as club president? That concern was laid to rest when I saw the Shattuck Hall full of enthusiastic Rotarians. I apologize for the fact that Vicar Shea was absent and that I totally forgot about the invocation. I spent all day Sunday asking for forgiveness!

It was my belief that the Club did a fantastic job making our many guest feel welcome. Having Bob Schaumann serve as the Greeter was a nice touch and I encourage having greeters at every meeting. Hats off to the Charitable Giving Committee in approving gifts for the Civic Center and Jaffrey War Memorial. Dion and Rick were genuinely grateful and they would both make excellent members to our Club.

We as a Club are fortunate to have members like Alan Soney, Tom Bennett and John McCarthy taking part in the Student Exchange Program. This is one of our finest programs! You could see the pride beaming from Hank’s families faces as they watched the young “Taiwan Ambassador” at the podium.

Lee Bruder’s presentation of the “Hass-Hoffman Fellowship” was intriguing and informative. Sam Lafortune is in-charge of signing Lee up as a Club Member.

All indicators suggest that we may be having the BEST “Camp Quest” season ever! Thank You to ALL Rotarians for your support of the program. A special thanks to Tonya, Peter and Tom for steering the ship! Speaking of ship, my duties this week at Quest include a full day canoe trip on Thursday. For some this would be a test of manhood but not in my case. I am headed to “Pelletier’s” to purchase an electric trolling motor!

We received a very nice Thank You card from Mariah Maki, the Rotary Scholarship winner. Will share that with all of you at club assembly.

Treasurer Bill R. has sent out the bi-annual dues invoices. Please try to remit payment before August first.

The Board of Directors meets Tuesday July 15 at 7:30 on the Franklin Pierce University campus.

Reminder that there is NO MEETING on Thursday July 17. Please make an effort to help at the “Cupcake Festival” the evening of July 17. You should plan to arrive around 4:45 pm wearing your red Quest shirt. My wife and daughter [Pat & Courtney] have the “Irish Car Bomb” cupcake recipe laying on the kitchen counter. This alone should inspire you to want to attend!

I am hoping to get some Club Members to step up to the plate for our 3 fund raising opportunities starting in August and this fall? We have a chance to make a few bucks parking cars and posting signs. Please let me know if you would be willing to take charge of 1 of these functions. They tend to be more fun than work.

The next meeting is a Club Assembly on July 24 at The Shattuck. Reverend David Tower has the invocation. There is a chance we may do the bios of Tom Doane & Jim Noel? Both are men of mystery and should prove to be entertaining!

Have a great week.
