August 1 was the “Quest” big road trip to Kimball’s in Westford, MA. The day started off as usual with me going to FPU while the rest of the crew assembled at the Jaffrey-Rindge Middle School as instructed. Some things never change! I had an enjoyable ride down and back with Peter Russell, Alan Soney and Tom Bennett. Those 3 fellas really got me up to speed on where our Club stands regarding Quest and the “China Camp”. I am always amazed at the willingness of our Club to give so unselfishly of their valuable time and resources. If you have never been to the Kimball’s in Westford, you will want to sign-up next year! The students made us all proud with their young adult behavior. The food was what you might expect but the small ice cream which Mike Kimball donates to Quest was 8” tall. I could go on and on about the venue but if you haven’t been then you need to experience it yourself.

We have a lot of events coming up and I will try to keep this semi-organized….mark your calendars.

November 7  This is the date of the “Reverse Raffle”.  Save the date!

September 20th  Could be the first of many Rotary/Conant Alumni golf tournaments? Work in progress.

September 18th at 1pm is the Rotary annual Golf Tournament at “Eastman” in Grantham, NH. Look for the flyers and register soon.

September 9th is the trip to the Peterborough Players for some fellowship and a great show “A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline”. Don Upton has organized this trip and really needs some form of commitment by the August 7 meeting. This invitation has been extended to Rotarians and Friends. Cost for tickets is $25 per person if we can sign-up 25 people or more. This saves you $12 per ticket and I am sure we can get 12 couples plus the odd couple!

August 28  District Governor Richard Berryman is coming to address the club. See Bill Driscoll regarding dress code!

August 23 is Rotary Night at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester. This will be another fellowship event and should be a terrific baseball game between the Manchester Fishercats and Portland Sea Dogs. Cost is $12 per ticket with $4 of every ticket purchased going toward the RI Polio Fund.

August 16  This is our chance to make a few bucks hanging signs in Swanzey for the Festival of Fireworks. Hope to have details at this Thursday’smeeting.

August 14  Peter Russell has invocation and Norm Richardson is bringing in Melanie McDonald to speak about TEAM Jaffrey.

August 7    Ben Wheeler has this week’s invocation and Randy Morse has invited Pat McDermott to speak to us about “The Northern Pass Project”. There is no doubt that this will be a very interesting topic. Feel free to bring a guest/potential member.

August 7 is also the QUEST graduation at 6 pm in the FPU Field house. Please show your support to the kids and the club.

I totally recognize the entire Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary Clubs efforts in making this a stellar year for QUEST! As President of the club I sincerely Thank You for being community leaders and caring about the future of all these students.
