This is still a busy time for the Jaffrey/Rindge Rotary as we are entering the tail end of summer.

I really enjoyed the August 21st meeting with Melanie McDonald’s presentation for TEAM Jaffrey. In the 5 decades that I have lived  here the changes have been incredible. The “Half Gallon Hotel” is now the home of Rite Aid, Ed’s Texaco no longer pollutes the river and has been replaced by the War Memorial Park, the vacant mill buildings are now very nice apartments and last but not least the colorful folks that used to hang out on the bridge in town have been replaced by colorful flowers!

The “Festival of Fireworks” sign posting project was a success. Saturday morning we had about 10 people head to Swanzey and put up about 300 signs in just 2 hours. Susan, Sadie and Gail are all professionals!  Sunday morning we had about the same turnout and had all the signs in the back of my truck in 1 hour. It was pretty comical watching Mike Shea and Bruce Edwards hanging off the back of the vehicles plucking signs! Atlas Fireworks will be presenting a check to us at the August 28th Club Meeting in front of the District Governor for $1,000.   I consider this a great return for 3 hours of our time.

This Thursday’s Meeting on August 21 is a “Club Assembly”. Please have your committee reports ready if you are chairperson of any committees.

Tom Doane will be presenting a fabulous slide show for last month’s “Quest” adventures.

Jed Brummer has the invocation.

See you all on Thursday.
