The local giving circle, 100+ Women Who Care Peterborough, held their final meeting of 2014 at The Shattuck Golf Club in Jaffrey. Six new members joined the organization, bringing the total membership to 92. Three local charities were nominated and chosen randomly during the meeting. The majority of members voted to fund QUEST, raising $4,600 in less than one hour. That brings the group's total donations in the last 15 months to $17,400.

Member Tonya Albee gave an in-depth overview of what QUEST offers children from the Jaffrey-Rindge Middle School, and detailed how the donation would be used.

"We are honored to be the recipient of this generous donation from a local organization of civic-minded women who come together for the common good of our community. Donations like theirs makes it possible for our important program to continue, and we thank them," Albee said.

QUEST is a free day camp program for approximately 80 Jaffrey-Rindge Middle School students that is held in July on the campus of Franklin Pierce University. This program is designed to provide four weeks of mentoring and life-changing camp experiences, including classes to strengthen proficiency in math and English. Fun activities are included as well, including team sports, water programs, art and music. QUEST is a team effort, led and staffed by the Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary Club, along with local volunteers in collaboration with Franklin Pierce University and the local school district, which provides professional teachers, aides and bussing. The cost per camper is approximately $500, which is offset by private and corporate donations. The monies from 100+ Women Who Care will go directly to enabling more students to attend the camp next summer.
