Janet Wilson Spoke on BNI and Networking

Janet is the Managing Director of BNI for the New Hampshire Region. She supports

32 BNI chapters with 800 members.

Janet highlighted the mistakes many of us make while networking.

Most people only network with people that they know. This is a mistake because you probably have all of

the information that they have to offer. Cast a wider net.

Do not break the 12 12 12 rule: be aware of how you look when you are 12 feet  and 12 inches away from

a person and choose you first  first 12 words carefully. People form their impression of you in the first 7

seconds that they are with you.

Before you start asking for referrals find out something about the person and what you can do for them.

Not the other way around.

At an event do not mix only with your group. Meet people that you do not know.
