Dear Rotarians,
Thank you for your generosity in supporting the Got Lunch Program and the Afterschool Program. You may know that the Got Lunch Program feeds more than 100 needy kids in Jaffrey and Rindge. Due to the higher cost of food and state cutbacks in food deliveries, they are only able to provide a couple of days (not a full week) of lunch and breakfast food. I helped deliver food last week and the bags were only 1/2 full. Got Lunch Program's funds will run out before the summer is over, so they are in an emergency situation.

Both these programs support kids who are the future of our community. We will give $3,000 to the Got Lunch Program to get them through the remaining summer deliveries and into the fall when they do weekend food drops. We will also give $6,000 to the Afterschool Program at the Jaffrey Grade School, and we pledged to help raise up to an additional $6,000 should the program not secure funding from other sources. We will do this through matching grants from local individuals and businesses.
As you may already know, we will be meeting twice more this summer. The dates are below, and I have entered these in the Club Calendar on ClubRunner. I will be making extensive use of our App to both plan and to inform membership.
August 7th at 5:30pm is our Pot-Luck Evening Social at the Peterborough Players. Please bring a tasty dish. We will also see the play, Native Gardens, after the meeting. As of this morning, there were two tickets still unsold among our block of 24. These are available for $48 (list price $60). Please contact Don Upton if you want them (hurry, the show is this Thursday!).
August 21st at 7:15am will be our next morning meeting at the Cathedral of the Pines. Tom and Eleanor will provide breakfast, and our speakers will be Working Together for JR - the new organization formed to help support our school district. They will talk about their efforts and discuss issues and projects with which we may wish to get involved.
September 4th is Labor Day, and we will not meet because of the holiday.
September 11th at 7:15am will be a regular breakfast meeting, as we return to Franklin Pierce University for the beginning of the new school year.
Yours in Service,
