Dear Rotarians,
I think we all enjoyed meeting Gene and Castine Clerkin last week. We are all looking forward to the reopening of the Pub at their Monadnock Inn!
This week's meeting on January 22nd, at 7:15 am, marks our return to Franklin Pierce University. Our speaker will be Jo Anne Carr, and she will update us on the status of the Rt. 202 project and revitalization plans for the Rt 202/124 interchange and Jaffrey Downtown.
Please note there will be a community supper at the United Church of Jaffrey at 5:30 pm this Thursday, sponsored by the girl scouts and assisted by a number of community members. Ask Owen for details about helping out.
Our next meeting on January 29th will be at FPU, at 7:15 am, and we hope to have as our speaker Joe Steinfield. Joe has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since the inception of that publication more than 30 years ago, and he is cited in its most recent 2024 edition in three categories – “’Bet the Company’ litigation,” Commercial Litigation, and “Litigation – First Amendment.” He has argued many appeals, including landmark cases in the highest courts of Massachusetts and New Hampshire and in the First and Second Circuits.
On Sunday, January 25th, at the Cathedral of the Pines, Dr. Andre de Quadros will delve into the powerful influence of music, sharing his experiences around the world with musical performance and healing, reconciliation, and peacebuilding. This event celebrating Martin Luther King day will start at 2:00 pm.
Reminder to mark your calendars for Wednesday, February 4th, which will be the Deliberative Session at which the school budget for 2026-27 will be discussed and voted on. The meeting will be at the Pratt starting at 6:30. All residents of Jaffrey and Rindge are welcome to attend (tell your friends!).
Stay warm!
Yours in Service,
Tom
