Dear Rotarians,
Happy New Year to all, and let us all hope for a peaceful 2026 in which world leaders recognize that people overwhelmingly want and need an end to war.
Our first meeting of the New Year will be on January 8th at the Cathedral of the Pines at 7:15am. Our guest speaker (a surprise!) will present a new, interactive natural resources map which is free to all residents of Jaffrey and Rindge. This easy-to-use tool is free to everyone and shows interesting things such as wildlife corridors, wetlands, and even archeological features such as stone walls hidden in the forest!
Our next meeting on January 15th will be at the historic Monadnock Inn in Jaffrey Center (on Rt 124). Castine and Gene, the new owners of the Inn, will talk to us about their vision for how the Inn will be revitalized. There will be a vibrant discussion of how we might improve our towns and make things more attractive to the 100,000+ hikers and tourists who climb the mountain each year.
The following meeting on January 22 finds us returning to Franklin Pierce University, and we hope to have Jo Anne Carr speak on the status of the Rt. 202 project and revitalization plans for the Rt 202/124 interchange, as well as Jaffrey Downtown.
It is early, but for those interested in our schools, mark your calendar for Wednesday, February 4th, which will be the Deliberative Session at which the school budget for 2026-27 will be discussed and voted on. The meeting will at the Jaffrey Middle High School in the Pratt starting at 6:30pm. All residents of Jaffrey and Rindge are welcome to attend.
Stay warm!
Yours in Service,
Tom
