Dear Rotarians,
My apologies for the lateness of this weekly bulletin. I had been hoping to announce a speaker but, alas, had three different folks drop out.
The interesting news for the week I wish to share comes from a talk given this past Friday evening at the Amos Fortune Forum by Sam Evans-Brown of Clean Energy NH. He spoke about the Energy Transition (to solar and wind) and made a convincing argument that it is happening extremely rapidly all over the globe, in rich and poor countries. The exception is the United States, which is ironic since much of the research and development of technologies such as solar panels was done in our country.
We will have a a delicious blueberry pancake breakfast at our Thursday morning meeting at the Cathedral of the Pines, July 24th, at 7:15am. Prepared by griddle masters Bill Coleman and Bob Schaumann, with maple syrup donated by Don Upton, we will enjoy food and fun!
Our Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary Club will host the Community Supper this Thursday evening (same day - July 24th) starting at 5:30pm. The monthly Community Supper is held at the United Church of Jaffrey at 54 Main St. We are preparing a spaghetti supper with garlic bread and salad! We ask a $5.00 volunteer donation from attendees to help support the Jaffrey Food Bank.
Our next meeting will be a Club social at the Peterborough Players on Thursday, August 7th, at 5:30pm. There are still four tickets remaining for the Native Gardens comedy, which begins at 7:30pm following the social. Each Rotarian is asked to bring a hors d'oeuvres dish of their choosing. This is a BYOB event. Contact Don Upton at donaldupton@msn.com for discounted tickets.
Lastly, there will be a memorial service for David Jeffries at the First Church of Jaffrey on this Saturday, July 26th, at 2:00pm. Rotarian David passed away earlier this year in February.
See you Thursday!!
Yours in Service,
Tom
