Good afternoon, Fellow Rotarians,

The Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary Club will meet at Franklin Pierce University for our Breakfast Meeting on Thursday, March 10th, at 7:15am.

I am most pleased to announce that our plans are to induct Stephanie Thomson and Rudra Aryal, as our newest Rotarians at our meeting this week.  Please join me in officially welcoming both Stephanie and Rudra!

Our guest speaker will be the Right Reverend Mark Beckwith, retired Episcopalian Bishop of Newark, NJ.  Thanks to David Jeffries for arranging for his presentation, and we look forward to it.

We will have a club social on St. Patrick’s Day, Thursday, March 17th, at Rotarian David Jeffries' home.  The event will run between 5pm and 7pm+; this will not be a club meeting but rather a time to socialize.   David lives at #617 Mountain Road in Jaffrey, NH.  It's a long driveway that is on the left as you drive down Rt 124 towards Marlborough.  This is a BYOB event and we have it catered with appetizers, etc.

Based on getting a proper headcount for catering purposes, it is necessary that each Rotarian RSVP no later than 3/10 on your attendance and number of guests.   Spouses/significant others/family members are more than welcome to attend; additionally, if you know anyone that may have any interest in becoming a Rotarian, I would encourage you to bring them along, as well.   It should be a fun event in a beautiful setting.

Please RSVP to one of the following by 3/10:

      Ben Wheeler = bwheeler@walpolebank.com
      David Jeffries = davidhjeffries@gmail.com
      Bill Raymond = w-mraymond@comcast.net

Being St. Patrick’s Day, please wear your green!!

Last but not least, today is Election Day in both Rindge and Jaffrey, and the polls will be open until 7:00pm.  Be sure to vote!

Yours in Service,

Ben

The Rotary Photographer returns!  Pictures from our March 3rd meeting...

A most appropriate Invocation

Referencing the sad situation in the Ukraine, "Reverend" Owen Houghton's morning Invocation was particularly appropriate to begin our first meeting in many months at Franklin Pierce University.

Jon Frederick prepares the raffle tickets!

Hard to remember the last time we had our 50/50 Raffle.  Thanks to Jon Frederick, the tickets were available, and Rotarians - each hoping they would win - plunked down $2.00.  In the background, Mike Shea prepares to say goodbye to his two dollars, but it was David Jeffries who won this time - reportedly, his first time as a raffle winner!

Rotarians socialize around the Raffle Ticket Table

Tickets went fast. Always a good crowd around the table, as it is where it seems "everyone meets."

Fire Chief David Chamberlain and Town Manager Jon Frederick

Jaffrey Fire Chief David Chamberlain arrived, and the photographer caught David and Town Manager, Jon Frederick, together. Talking town business?

President Ben Welcomes Rotarians Back

With an introduction that included a reference to "No more Zooms [hopefully]," President Ben Wheeler welcomed fellow Rotarians to our first in-person Breakfast Meeting in several months at Franklin Pierce University.  It's good to be back!

John McCarthy explains School District HVAC Warrant

With the annual Town Election in Rindge and Jaffrey on March 8th (today!!), John McCarthy, a member of the SAU47 School Board, shared insights on the HVAC warrant article that will be voted upon by voters in both towns.  At least two Rotarians are on the Town or School District ballot as incumbents.

The Jaffrey 250th Celebration in 2023

Rotarians learned that organizations, companies, and citizens can sponsor a flag with their name that will line the main streets in Jaffrey, as part of the town's 250th Anniversary celebration in 2023.  Andy Lawn spoke to this, and the topic of a Rotary flag will be discussed at the Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday, March 9th.

Jaffrey Fire Chief David Chamberlain, Guest Speaker

Chief David Chamberlain provided an update on the Jaffrey Fire Department. He shared information to support the Town's warrant article for a new fire engine to replace Engine 1, which is nearing thirty years of service.  The warrant will be discussed and voted upon at Town Meeting at the Pratt Auditorium at Conant High School on Saturday, March 12th, at 9:00am.
