Dear Rotarians,

The Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary Club will not meet this week on Thursday, November 28, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

As we embrace this season of gratitude, Thanksgiving, my heart is filled with appreciation for each of you who have embraced our motto, "Service Above Self." This is a time to reflect on our shared blessings—our families, friendships, and extraordinary bonds.

Last week, over coffee and breakfast, we shared stories, strengthened connections, and engaged in meaningful discussions about our activities. Then we started our meeting with my invocation prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the song, "America the Beautiful." We also had the privilege of hosting some truly impactful moments:

  • Distinguished Speaker: We were honored to hear from Dr. Jennie Brown, Professor of Psychology at Franklin Pierce University, who delivered a thought-provoking talk on "The Psychology of Terrorism." Her insights shed light on pressing issues affecting governments and societies nationally and globally.
  • Student of the Month: We celebrated the remarkable "Student of the Month" event by honoring Colin Maher from the Rindge Memorial School. His exceptional dedication to academics, social involvement, and extracurricular activities stood out. It was a heartwarming experience to hear about his achievements through the  stories shared by his family and teachers. Once again, let us extend our warmest congratulations to Colin for his outstanding accomplishments!

Additionally, we had an exciting moment at Belletetes last Sunday, where Mike Shea generously hosted a 90-second shopping spree, an auction item from our October Raffle Party that benefitted our club. Thank you, Mike, for your enormous contribution!

On a personal note, I recently participated in Rotary district-level "Job Fairs" information online Zoom sessions on November 23. It was inspiring to connect with our district's larger Rotary community and explore opportunities beyond our local club.

Thank you for your enthusiasm, dedication, and unwavering support. Together, we are making a meaningful impact, and I look forward to seeing all the incredible things we will accomplish as a club in the weeks and months ahead.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Belletetes' 90-Second Shopping Spree ! !

With his winning bid at the recent Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary Raffle Party in October, Greg Potter was the winner of a 90-second shopping spree at Belletetes in Jaffrey.  Running at high speed, Greg brought a 7KW generator and assorted DeWalt tools to the finish line, all within a ninety-second window. Here, posing with his winnings, is Greg (L) and Rotarian Mike Shea, President of Belletetes' Hardware stores.

Winter's Coming...

Don't look now, but Sunday morning, November 24th, saw the first signs of winter, as Mt. Monadnock was crowned with what appears to be a good inch or two of the white stuff.  Weather forecasts for the Thanksgiving weekend are "iffy," but the possibility of a snowfall on Thursday or Friday promise to make Thanksgiving travel interesting!
