Dear Rotarians,

     The Serenity Prayer:
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
                                                                                                                   -Reinhold Niebuhr-

The Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary will NOT meet this upcoming week due to the Columbus Day holiday. The next evening event will take place on October 22nd at the United Church of Jaffrey in the Mildred Cutter Parish Hall, where we will be hosting our Community Supper. Dinner will be served at 5:30pm. There will be a Volunteers list of start times in next week's bulletin. There will NOT be a morning meeting on October 22nd.

Last week we had the pleasure to have Laura Brusseau, Engagement Manager from The Mayhew Program. This program is a tuition-free, all boys nonprofit residential summer camp and year-round mentoring program located on a private island in Newfound Lake in Bristol, NH. Their Mission is to support at risk NH boys - including those living below the poverty line or in foster care - to build self-esteem, work well with others, and find their best selves through high school graduation.

Update on the donations raised for Nepal Relief. Between the Jaffrey-Rindge and Grand Monadnock Rotary Clubs, we have raised $4,800. I would like to personally thank Rudra Aryal for reaching out to the Grand Monadnock Rotary Club and having them join forces with our Club to raise this money to help Nepal.

On October 8th at 5:30pm, the Town of Jaffrey hosted a walking parade and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Route 202 bridge. I was very pleased to see so many Rotarians there. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get all our members who were present into the photo.

UPCOMING Volunteers NEEDED!!! This email went out to all members last Friday morning from Mike Shea: we will proceed with our fall roadside on Route 202 that begins at the Jaffrey/Rindge town line and runs to the intersection of Route 119. We will meet at 8:00am at Emma's 321 Pub and Kitchen in Rindge, and from there we will divide and conquer. Please join us if you can, as many hands make light work.

I want to give a BIG SHOUTOUT to the Cathedral of the Pines for donating 27 brand new coats valued at $100.00 each for our Coat Drive. If you or anyone you know is in need of a coat this winter, please let me know before October 23rd.

There will be a Board meeting at noon on October 14th at the Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce office.

Enjoy the crisp, beautiful autumn Weather!

Yours in Service,

Donna

Laura Brusseau, Engagement Manager from The Mayhew Program, Guest Speaker

Donna Senechal (L), Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary Club President, and Laura Brusseau, Engagement Manager from The Mayhew Program in Bristol, pose for an informal picture following Laura's informative presentation about this organization that helps young boys.  The Mayhew Progam for years has helped to support at-risk young boys - including those living below the poverty line or in foster care - to build their self-esteem, learn to work well with others, and find their best selves through high school graduation.

Walking the Bridge as Jaffrey Opens the New Route 202 Bridge - Rotary Was There !

(Standing L to R) Rotarians Andy Lawn, Dr. Marc Winiecki, Rudra Aryal, Mike Shea, Ben Wheeler, and (kneeling) Bob Schaumann and Donna Senechal, were among several Rotarians who joined the Jaffrey Board of Selectmen on Thursday, October 8th, as many dozens of local citizens participated in the "walking parade."  Joanne Carr and the SelectBoard participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony that officially opened the bridge to traffic that would begin to flow the next day.
