Dear Rotarians,
Yes, its getting cooler at night. Yet we are tough NH Yankees and we don't turn on the heat until November, right!?! At least that's what I tell myself because I don't have the heat connected at the moment ... a few more pipes to go!
Last week we got some remarkable insights on a favorite pastime from Dr. Lara Ingram, Professor of Psychology at Franklin Pierce University. Personally, I am not sure I am ready to give up the occasional, cocktail, but it it is good to be reminded about the consequences of alcohol consumption and how to recognize when you get close to reasonable limits. Dr. Ingram did not ask, but I wonder how many of us have known friends and/or family who have experienced an alcohol problem?
We also got to welcome again several possible new Rotarians, thanks to the efforts of Teresa, John, Bob, and many others. Our year's goal is to bring at least five folks into Rotary.
We will meet this Thursday at Franklin Pierce University at 7:15am. Our own Rotarian, Mark Hower, will share some of his experiences from his recent Europe visit.
The following meeting on October 2nd will also be at Franklin Pierce, and we will take stock of where we are for our auction. PLEASE attend and share your efforts and ideas. I think a prudent goal should be for each of us to have as a target a minimum of $1000 of goods for our auction. Please tell Sam as you make milestones toward that goal! The cost for tickets is $40/person or $75 for 2 people. Donna and Sam will be handing out sheets of possible auction donors again and making a notation about who we have visited.
Just a reminder that The Scarecrows on the Common festival is Saturday, October 4th, from 10am - 2pm. We are looking for a few more volunteers to help out in the "hayloft." I have ordered a couple of "Supported by the Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary" banners (see below), which we will display at this and other events.
Yours in Service,
