Hi Fellow Rotarians,

The last hurrah... and my last weekly bulletin as your Club president.  It can't be... two years has already gone by?????

A lot has happened since we met last Thursday for Breakfast at the Shattuck last week.

I am very pleased to announce a variety of good news. The Board of Directors met Monday morning in a special session (we only met last Tuesday for our regular monthly BoD meeting) to discuss a $10,000 donation to the Park Theater.    It was because of the construction window that we found ourselves meeting to discuss this topic prior to the July BoD meeting.  The Board felt strongly that a donation of this magnitude is congruent with similar large donations that we have made over the past few years.  The motion was made and approved.  The check will be donated mid-July.  Our donation will be marked by a special marker (a large 30" star) embedded in the floor of the Park Theater lobby, along with stars of seven other major contributors.

A second piece of business was the nomination of -- and approval -- of Jed Brummer as our President-Elect for 2019-2020.

A third piece of business was the approval of a small donation to the Rotary Foundation for polio eradication that supports the District's goal of 100% Club participation.

Lastly, the BoD agreed to change the BoD meeting date to the second Thursday morning of each month (previously, the BoD met the third Tuesday of each month).  This allows the BoD outcomes to be shared at our monthly evening Rotary Club meeting that same date at the Shattuck.

Thursday's weather looks to be good for Gavel Night.  Bring your spouse or significant other to the Peter/Jinnie Russell residence, 4 Gilson Road, in Jaffrey.  Please come with a dish (appetizer, salad, or desert) to complement the hot hors d'oeuvres that will come from Woodbound Inn.  The event is BYOB.  We start at 5:30pm and should be over around 7:30pm.  Rumors that I have a 45-minute farewell speech are unfounded.  And... in case you are wondering... there is NO Breakfast meeting this Thursday.

It's been a wonderful two years as your president.  I'll offer a few minutes of reflections at the time I turn the gavel over to our new president, Jon Frederick.

See you on Thursday!

Yours in Service,

bob
