Hi Fellow Rotarians,

As this is a holiday week, we will not be meeting on Thursday, October 12th.

Our next meeting of the Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary Club will be on Thursday, October 19th, at 7:15am, at Franklin Pierce University.

On Saturday, October 14th, our Rotary Club will be meeting outside of Emma’s 321 Restaurant at 8:00am to support our biannual road side cleanup effort. Please grab your spouse, teenager, or friend, as many hands make light work.

As a follow up to a recent meeting I had with John McCarthy, the following projects have Rotary member support, and as such, John and I would like to move forward and implement them, effective immediately:
  • 2023 Rotary Fund Raiser
  • Russ Gaskamp - overnight warming shelter for homeless through his Peterborough Church
  • Bill Raymond - Convert former welcome center/gazebo site to a pollinator garden; tidy up & weed whack around signs coming into Jaffrey & Rindge
  • Harold Davis - Coat Drive; Bird seed sales
  • Rudra Aryal - Discussion with JRMS/Conant Students on Science and Math
  • Lori Rautiola - Welcome to Rindge signs throughout town

The following three projects are also potential candidates but need dates, cost estimates, and member ownership/support to proceed:
  • Greg Walsh – Rotary Garage Sale
  • Owner? - Keene Sneaker Drive
  • Andy Lawn/Owen - Community meal

The following two projects are complex and will require financial and staff support from our club members. Both are excellent candidates as they will help support the youth in our local communities.
  • Bob Schaumann - After school program at Christian Camp Monadnock/Jaffrey Grade School
  • John McCarthy - Nutrition assistance for select students in the Jaffrey-Rindge Cooperative School District.  This would be a follow up to our Club’s 2018 startup support of the Rindge Congregational Church’s Got Lunch program. It would also be a collaboration with the Conant class of 1973 and their efforts to raise funds for kids who come to school without breakfast and/or without money for lunch.  This was described at a previous Rotary meeting by David Griffin of Conant’s class of 1973.

Due to the complexities, level of detail, and potential funding and membership support required to support these projects, John and I would like to use the remainder of 2023 to have our members develop a detailed action plan for each project.

In early December, we will ask you, the Rotary Club members, to overview the action plans and collectively determine which project we will move forward with in early 2024.

Summary:
The above outlined approach to project efforts in our club compartmentalizes our list of projects by member support, size, and club resource requirements.  Furthermore, it allows us to move forward with six documented projects in 2023, three additional vetted projects in early 2024, and one major Rotary project throughout 2024.

Yours in Service,

Bill/John
