Weekly Update 1/26
They say folks that live in our neck of the woods are Hearty New Englanders. It looks like this week we will be tested as to just how Hearty we are?
The Blizzard of 2015 will reign down on us for the next 36 hours bringing the white gold that our part of the country counts on. This is good news for hotels, restaurants, ski areas and all the businesses that support those entities. I personally have my bags packed and am headed to Mount Katahdin for another snowmobile experience in Northern Maine. Of course I won’t be leaving on this trip until after our Club Meeting on Thursday.
For those of you that missed the January 15th meeting, I’ll give you a short recap. First of all it was a great meeting! It had been our first meeting in 2015 and everyone was excited to see each other after our extended holiday break. We elected the 2015/2016 Board of Directors and Slate of Officers. It was a Club Assembly and we recognized our “Student of the Month” which is always rewarding for more than the exceptional student. Lastly, we got a chance to recognize and sincerely show our appreciation to Club Member, Dr. Jamie Birge. Clay did the honor of presenting Jamie with the “Paul Harris Sapphire” and I must say that Clay did a fantastic job in that presentation. Jamie has been instrumental in the bond between Franklin Pierce, Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary, the local school system and of course the “Quest” program.
Bill Anders will present the Speaker at this week’s meeting. Our Speaker is Mr. Doug Whitbeck and he will be discussing the New Hampshire Pipeline Project with us. There is no doubt, with all the recent press that there will be plenty to learn and talk about.
William Raymond has the Invocation.
Friendly reminders:
#1 The meeting this Thursday is at Franklin Pierce University.
#2 If the Jaffrey-Rindge School District is cancelled or has a delayed opening…….The Rotary Meeting is cancelled.
Stay safe and warm!
Hope to see you all Thursday.
