The Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary had a strong presence at the Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting last Friday night. It only makes sense for Business and Community Leaders to be at this function but I take nothing for granted. I sat at the Rotary sponsored table with Bill Driscoll, Joe Manning and honored guests. Owen Houghton and Norm Richardson did an excellent job speaking at the podium. Our Club members are intricately woven into the fabric of what makes the Monadnock Region such a wonderful place to live. Thanks to all that attended.

I promise this will be my last reference to snowmobiling in the weekly bulletin. Bill Raymond made an announcement which he clearly did not pay enough cash for] regarding the Dublin Snowmobile event at last Thursday’s meeting. So Saturday morning, Mike Shea and I decided we would attend this event and would drive our snowmobiles to Dublin. One would think this would be a fairly simple trip but you actually have to go to Keene or Wilton to get to Dublin. We chose the Keene route and after a couple of hours discovered that we had no idea where we were going. Every time there was a fork in the trail we took it. Stone Pond and Silver Lake are nice as is Granite Lake but we found ourselves getting further from our intended destination and were running out of fuel. By 4 pm we found ourselves on top of Pitcher Mountain in Stoddard admiring the view of Mount Monadnock, our beacon home. I decided at this point that our best bet to make it back to civilization was to follow my moral compass. My compass worked like a charm and we found ourselves sitting in a Pub on Highland Lake in no time flat! There ended up being 6 guys in our group as we picked up some other lost snowmobilers from Rindge along the way. We finally arrived back in Jaffrey at 10 pm after 12 hours of hard riding. Don’t ask me how to get to Dublin?!

Our Speaker for this Thursday’s Meeting will be Chris Selmer of Monadnock Family Services. Chris is the director of the Adult Care Center.

Norm Richardson has the invocation.

It hurts me to remind you that if Conant High School is cancelled/delayed then there will be NO Rotary meeting.

See you all Thursday.
