This Thursday’s meeting of the Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary Club on June 17th will be in person at the Cathedral of the Pines at 8:00am.  Our guest speaker will be Mary Drew from Reality Check, who will share insights on how the pandemic has impacted addiction, both locally and nationally.

Our Thursday meeting will be the last regular meeting of the 2020-2021 Rotary year before Gavel Night on Thursday, June 24th, at 5:30pm.  Gavel Night will be catered by our very own Stephanie Porter.   Wine and drinks are BYOB.

As in years past, Peter and Jinnie Russell have graciously agreed to host our annual soiree.  Jinnie’s flowers will be in full bloom -- a beautiful site for a great party.  Be sure to RSVP to Bob Schaumann if you have not done so already so that we have an accurate headcount for victuals.

PS. Ben, I’ll bring an extra drink for you - what’s your pleasure?

Secretary of State, Bill Gardner, Our Guest Speaker

Bill Gardner, the longest-serving Secretary of State in New Hampshire and the United States, addressed the Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary Club.  In his presentation, Secretary Gardner shared how New Hampshire has maintained a steady course that has resulted in being in the Top 5 states insofar as voter turnout in the Presidential Elections, despite considerable efforts by other states and PACs to "make simpler" the process of voting.

Jaffrey-Rindge Rotarians Listen Intently to Secretary of State Gardner

Along with two dozen Rotarians, we hosted the Town Moderators from Jaffrey (Mark Tieger), Rindge (Charlie Eicher), and Milford (Peter Basiliere), who were invited by SAU47 moderator Bob Schaumann.  Rotarian Bernie Hampsey also served as Town Moderator for Jaffrey before becoming a Superior Court Justice.

District Governor Elect John Bob Siemienowicz joined us at our Thursday meeting.  Speaking very briefly, he looks forward to working with President-elect Ben Wheeler in what he sees as a positive year for Rotary in 2021-2022.  John Bob is a member of the Milford Rotary Club.

Following the weekly meeting of the Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary Club, Bill met with area town and school district moderators at Bob and Diane Schaumann's home, during which time Bill shared what New Hampshire was doing to preserve our "First in the Nation" Presidential Primary, despite what other states and commonwealths have done in the past (and present) to derail the Granite State's "first" primary election.  Secretary Gardner informally met with them over coffee for two hours before heading back to Concord.
