Post Season’s Greetings and I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays!

Now it’s time to get back to work as the pillars of our community, as Rotarians. We got a lot of positive Press in the last few weeks and I appreciate the efforts of Tom and Sheila for making that happen. The Rotary Club’s interaction with the local schools is instrumental in performing our mission to “Light up Rotary”. Hopefully our donations to “Santa’s House” and “Operation Santa” brought a smile to some little faces. More importantly, the donations to the local food pantries perhaps made someone’s life a little brighter. Thanks to all of you in showing our community what Rotarians stand for.

I went to the fire station to get a burn permit for New Year’s Eve. The Fireman that issued me the permit was our recent Paul Harris recipient, David Kemp. He could not thank me enough for the award and recognition. He was very sincere.  Ultimately, the committee that made that choice was Spot On! Every town needs more folks like Dave Kemp.

The meeting this Thursday is at Wood Bound Inn. Although the venue is slightly smaller, I like the atmosphere of the Inn and the food!

We will be bestowing a significant award to a fellow Rotarian at this meeting. I wish that I could tell you more but I am sworn to secrecy.

Sheila Bergeron will give us a Bio presentation on Peter Russell and in the event that Jim Noel is not able to provide the invocation, Sheila will also do the invocation. Sheila does not know this but she owes me a prayer!

The Board of Directors meets Tuesday January 13th at 7:30 am in the Jaffrey Chamber Office. Our #1 mission will be to approve next year’s Board of Directors and Slate of Officers. As the Club President and leader of the present Board of Directors, I can tell you that we have a dozen people that care very much about the Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary Club’s wellbeing. Therefore, I feel that the present board will look out for the best interest of our Club when approving the new Board of Directors. I am confident in that.

Three friendly reminders:

1.       Please pay your breakfast dues promptly. That is always greatly appreciated.

2.       In the event of inclement weather. If the local schools are delayed or canceled. Rotary is canceled.

3.       The meeting next week, January 15 is once again at Wood Bound Inn.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday.
